本片是部风格特异的现代浮世绘电影，舞力导演林德赛．安德森手法前卫，舞力某些片段具有高度讽刺性，但整体稍嫌松散冗长。不过片中由亚伦普赖斯创作的配乐非常优美动听，马尔科姆．麦克道尔、拉尔夫．理查森、雷切尔．罗伯茨等在片中的表演也很投入，对喜欢艺术电影的爱好者来说非常有吸引力。剧情讲述一名见习推销员历经种种奇遇，最后成为一名国际性的资本家。
