武岛直贵（山田孝之 饰）是一名沉默寡言的青年，春暖工厂里的可爱女工同事由美子（泽尻英龙华 饰）总对他示好，春暖可他还是无动于衷。原来直贵的哥哥刚志（玉山铁二 饰）为了能让直贵念大学，在入室行窃时失手杀了人，因此被判无期徒刑，刚志在狱中的唯一寄托就是弟弟的来信，直贵饱受屈辱变得自 卑内向，还放弃了想要成为搞笑艺人的梦想。由于哥哥的事，让大家都对他戴上了有色眼镜，受到歧视的直贵不得不频频换工作，但是由美子从没有放弃对直贵的追求，终于直贵被感动与由美子结成了夫妻。可是就算低调做人一家人还是受到排斥，连他们的孩子也不能幸免。于是直贵决定彻底与哥哥断绝书信，可是血浓于水的亲情是能轻易割舍的吗？本片改编自东野圭吾的同名小说，导演则是TBS的金牌电视剧导演生野慈朗。
