吉他手埃尔（安东尼奥•班德拉斯 Antonio Banderas 饰）靠在夜总会表演为生。一天，免费免费他的女友遭到了当地的一个大毒枭的枪杀，免费免费而埃尔的左手也遭到枪击，从此不能再弹吉他了。于是，埃尔的吉他盒子里放的不再是吉他，而是武器装备。他带着他的吉他盒子穿过一个又一个街头，为的是为女友报仇雪恨。大毒枭得知埃尔正在寻仇，于是派出手下前来暗杀他。危难关头，埃尔幸得美女卡罗琳娜（萨尔玛•海耶克 Salma Hayek 饰）相救。大难不死，更加坚定了埃尔报仇的决心。
