It has been called a landmark of lesbian representation. Olivia arrives at a finishing school and falls in love with headmistress Mlle. Julie. Mlle. Julie feels the same, but tries to suppress her desire. For her part as Mlle. Julie, Edwige Feuillère was nominated for a BAFTA award for Best Foreign Actress in 1952.French director Audry made 18 feature films from 1944 to 1972. Her earliest films are prime examples of the French 'tradition of quality.' She favored plots adapted from French literature. Audry is most distinguished from her peers in that her films were primarily focused upon female leads, whereas traditional French cinema is centered around the lives of men. Her most notorious film was 1951's Olivia, which dealt with lesbian relationships.

回复 :故事片《勐垅沙》是由八一电影制片厂在1960年摄制的。本片根据话剧《遥远的勐垅沙》改编，它讲述的是1950年春，解放军某部指导员江洪奉命率工作组到云南傣族地区勐垅沙开展工作。当地头人布亢受潜伏的女特务刀爱玲的挑唆，禁止傣族老乡接近工作组，致使工作组的工作难以展开。江洪要战士们克服畏难情绪，深入群众，为群众做好事，以取得他们的信任。同时，江洪又带头到苦大仇深的梅恩家访问。青年猎人勒亨受坏人挑拨，误以江洪为敌，企图杀害他，幸被梅恩的爷爷帕曼及时劝阻。刀爱玲又派人放火烧了勒亨的家，企图嫁祸于江洪，并煽动群众赶走工作组。江洪识破了敌人的阴谋，一方面带领战士帮助勒亨盖新房，一方面迫使头人释放被关押的梅恩的丈夫帅恩，从而团结、争取了广大贫苦的傣民。刀爱玲并不死心，她乘傣乡粮食青黄不接时，派人破坏了勐垅河大桥，切断了政府运粮的通道；还唆使布亢抬高粮价，并乘机挑起汉傣民族之间的矛盾。当阴谋败露后，她又企图劫持布亢逃往国外。江洪率战士和民兵逮捕了刀爱玲，救出了布亢。从此，傣乡人民开始走上新的生活道路。
