这部电影带有浓厚的新现实主义风格，逆袭基本上与费里尼中后期的神采飞扬不一样，逆袭采用了纪实手法来讲述一个爱情故事，结构简单，多用长镜头。片中的内容与战后意大利贫瘠的社会现实相吻合。本片也是费里尼首次与自己的妻子玛西娜合作。乡下姑娘莉莉加入一家剧团，她的表演相当成功，不但在观众中大受欢迎，剧团团长契克也暗中爱上了她。由于契克常常醋意大发，剧团惹上了许多麻烦，最终不得不解散收场……

In gonzo journalism style, Emma becomes one of them and ultimately remains with them for two years, despite only intending to stay for several weeks. Was writing her book simply a pretext for Emma to live out the type of fantasy that’s hard to admit to in our society?
