2023年4月22日，扩张由国家电影局指导、扩张中央广播电视总台和北京市人民政府主办的第十三届北京国际电影节在北京雁栖湖国际会展中心开幕。中宣部副部长、中央广播电视总台台长、第十三届北京国际电影节组委会主席慎海雄在开幕式上致辞并宣布电影节开幕。北京市委常委、宣传部部长、第十三届北京国际电影节组委会常务副主席莫高义出席开幕式并致辞。本届北京国际电影节以“光影共享，文明互鉴”为主题，讲好中国故事，与各国朋友一起共绘文明互鉴新画卷。
