当了八年卧底探员的海生（张家辉饰）成功逮捕犯罪分子Dark哥（吴镇宇饰），千寻心想到终于可以摆脱卧底生活，千寻海生感到生活又恢复了光明。可是，事情却不是海生想的那样美好。复职的颁奖仪式草草了事，同事对他投来的不是关切与欣赏，而是不信任的目光。警员阿龙（黄秋生饰）只是默默地安慰他。卧底时期的女友与自己分手，陌生人开始跟踪自己，海生觉得自己警员的生活远比卧底更加痛苦。他回想起卧底时候Dark哥与他的往事，不由得动容，而此时，海生卧底时的朋友找到海生，原来想逃离卧底生涯，远非那么简单。

回复 :精神抑郁的画家(齐木茂饰)在去下水道中寻找灵感的时候，意外发现了一条人鱼(染井真理饰)。而这条人鱼竟然是画家曾经在河中遇见过的。画家开始为人鱼作画，而此时才发现人鱼的腹部因为某种原因而溃烂。长满了大大小小的脓包和肉瘤，然后画家将人鱼带回家养在了浴缸里。画家买来药为人鱼治疗，但人鱼拒绝了。人鱼要求画家为自己作画，人鱼腹部的烂疮慢慢扩展到全身并进一步恶化。先是慢慢向人鱼的上身扩展，然后流出各种颜色的脓水，各种蛆虫，长短不一，五颜六色，伴随着黏液从人鱼身上的脓包中喷射而出，混成一团，布满了浴缸以及浴缸周围的地板。而浴缸里的水也呈现出一种复杂的颜色，甚至变的粘稠。最后，脓疮蔓延到人鱼的脸上，布满了整个半边脸，当然也会涌出脓水和蛆虫。此时的人鱼已经变成了令人作呕的怪物。最后人鱼开始呕吐，吐出来的也是蛆虫和粘稠的脓水。这期间人鱼痛苦万分而画家则给予人鱼温情的关怀，帮人鱼挤脓，抽出身体里的蛆等等。而画家的画也伴随着人鱼的状况而改变，直到人鱼死去，画作也最终完成，一张布满五彩脓疮的脸。神情恍惚的画家肢解了人鱼，然而在人鱼的腹中竟然发现了一个婴儿。最后警察在画家邻居的举报下逮捕了画家 。
