But they may have met their match in New Friend, their latest victim, who starts to manipulate the foursome, setting one against the other.Bizarre combination of late sixties avant garde and sleaze. Director Freddie Francis had made horrors for both Hammer and Amicus but this is nothing like any of them. Shot on location with an atmosphere mixing playground horror and conservatory theatre that is downright weird and unsettling. The great lost girl of sixties British horror, Vanessa Howard, shines as she does in those other rarely seen gems Corruption [1967] and What Became of Jack and Jill [1972]. If Harold Pinter had made The Texas Chain Saw Massacre [1974] for the BBC this could have resulted. Excellent and unique.

回复 :老伯爵von Lieberhaus，他总是喜欢在远处，坐在自己的劳斯莱斯里，用着望远镜偷看着，小镇上那些年轻漂亮的小女孩，在沙滩上嬉戏玩耍，或者是更换泳衣。这个老色鬼死了也不给人安宁，在遗嘱中他做了一个颠覆性的决定，这个决定就是，如果镇上的女孩不能在金牛座来临时候，生出一个非婚的孩子，那么他就要在小镇上开始征税（在这以前小镇上的人是不用缴税给他的），而且巨额遗产将会捐赠给一个基金会。 34年了，这个小镇上从来没有一个非婚的孩子出生，是不是要坚持原有的道德操守？有关伯爵遗愿的消息不胫而走，人们都知道了，议论的沸沸扬扬，但还是缴税的压力和遗产的诱惑，让人们做出了妥协决定！为了保住小镇的体面，他们决定让镇长（Felix）去和一个妓女（Carola）说，要求她教一些知识给镇上的女孩，于是让Carola的同居男友（Albert）去交那些男孩~事情发展的很顺利，Albert和Carola把那些镇上的体面人和未婚男女，集合在一起，然后青年们各自活动...这些年轻人的母亲们却不希望发生这样的事情，结局，导演和我们开了个玩笑，人们在金牛座的月份里发现没有孩子出生，那就意味着他们将会开始缴税、他们也会失去伯爵的遗产；而这时街道上人们沸腾起来，原来是Carola生了一个孩子，是男友Albert的，他们没有结婚、孩子又是在金牛座最后一天里出世的，符合伯爵的愿望。人们开始欢呼起来，高喊着Albert和Carola的名字，而导演把镜头给了另外一个人，那就是在地下的伯爵，狂笑着…… 原来伯爵就有一个私生子！ 惊叹此片的导演，构思慎密，绝对是个天才；而且完全可以用曲折迂回、峰回路转来形容影片剧情的变化。
